The Combat Gauntlet

This is a Champaign tournament. It offers fighters a minimum of eight fights, on a variety of combat fields in a very rapid manner. This can be very tiring since breaks are minimized in favor of fighting.

This tournament form will test a fighter’s stamina and ability to pace themselves. Both useful skills over the course of a campaigning (or tournament) season. Each fighter will fight a minimum of eight fights. The winner will have fought a minimum of eight fights and a maximum of every fighter in the Lyst PLUS seven of them twice.

  1. The field consists of a closed series of eric fields. Some may have special rules and/or props.

  2. Each fighter fights on each field in series. #1 to #8 today.

  3. Fighters will enter combat by Caidian Order of  Precedence (OP) number. Low numbers entering before high. Sitting Royalty (Caidian and Visitor) may place Themselves at any entry position irregardless of OP number. Visitors without an entry in the Caidian OP will be grouped with the Caidians who have no entry in the OP, or at any entry position that the senior attending Caidian Royalty designates.

  4. Fighters are expected to remain on the combat field(s) until they are eliminated, except during scheduled breaks. Please arrange for outside support staff before hand if you need them.

  5. A fighter winning on a field remains on that field and immediately fights the next challenger to that field. Loser moves to the next field and become a challenger to that field. When a fighter is defeated on the last field, they are out of the tournament, unless some special rule allows re-entry.

  6. Challengers with other challengers ahead of them will wait at the field edge out of the  way of combat until their turn comes.

  7. Wounds are not retained between fights.

  8. Double “kills” are not destructive and will be re-fought immediately.

  9. Only secondary or additional weapons brought to the field and either, carried by the fighter during combats, or left on the field edge are allowed. Replacement of broken weapons is allowed. Weapons specially not allowed for a  particular field must be left on the edge of field.

  10. Fighters are expected to pace themselves. One 5 minute break will be scheduled per 5 fighters entered in Lysts. Additional breaks may be added due to weather or other concerns.

  11. Interpretation of special rules and restrictions are made by the marshal(s) on that field,. subject to appeal to the Marshal of the Day and ultimately, Their Majesties. They are intended to add variety and challenge to the combats, so please be  understanding and tolerant.

  12.  A fighter on a field with no further challengers will advance to the next field as a challenger.

  13. The winner of the tournament is the winner of the last fight on the last field.

  14. Designed by Baron Aldred, if you have questions or complaints seek him out. It is ALWAYS Aldred’s fault.
